Autumn Self Care

The trees are starting to look a little bare, the pavements are covered with autumn-orange leaves and the weather can't seem to make up its mind. Autumn is finally here. I don't know about you, but Autumn is one of my favourite seasons (along with Spring).

The thought of closing curtains, lighting some autumn scented wax melts, putting a film on and cosying up in a woolly blanket, wearing some cosy pyjamas, just gives me all the feels.

Although Autumn gives cosy vibes, we can all still struggle in some ways. That's why it's still so important to carry on with self-care. Self-care doesn't exactly mean your usual facials or the obvious things you always hear. There's so many thing you can do for self-care.

Enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee. This doesn't have to mean that you have to spend money and go to Costa or Starbucks. Why not just enjoy your hot cuppa in the comfort of your own home. Maybe you could put one of your favourite programmes on TV.
It really is the simple things, such as having a night in and watching a movie. It could be a new movie or a classic movie. There are so many movies you can watch through October. I absolutely love watching Horror movies, but also love watching family movies such as Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas and even the old classic, Casper.
Start writing a journal/diary. I have been writing a daily diary for a good few years now and it's lovely to look back on old diaries to see what I was up to a few years ago. If you feel you don't want to commit to something daily, why not do a weekly diary or journal. This is where you could take some time for yourself once a week and spend time writing or drawing what you got up to that week. Not only writing what you got up to, writing how you feel, maybe say what the weather was, the news around the world and so on.
Picking up and reading a book is something I wish I did more, and I'm sure there are so many people out there who think the same too. When you do find the time, there is nothing better than cosying up in bed in the evening and reading a book.
It's the perfect time of year to start a new hobby. With the weather changing and the darker nights, where you are more than likely going to stay indoors, why not use that time to find a new hobby.
Nothing beats buying a brand new pair of cosy pyjamas and fluffy socks. If you're not wanting to buy a new pair, get your already owned pyjamas back out, give them a wash to freshen up.
As it's coming closer to the end of the year, it's always good to take a look back at the year you've had. Take some time for yourself and write down things you'd like to let go of. This could help you go into the new year with a fresh new mindset. You could keep the letters/notes and take a look back the following year.
One of my favourite things to do when the weather gets colder and the evenings get darker earlier is to burn some wax melts. I especially go for the fruity or bakery type scents during this time of year.
To top it all off, either buying a new cosy blanket or getting all your cosy blankets back out again.
There are so many other things you can do such as baking and walking.
What do you do for self care during Autumn?
